A Trip to Italy
Mikkel and I just got back from a little trip to southern Italy. We spent a couple days in Napoli, and a few more on the Amalfi coast. The weather was warm and sunny, the food was rich, and the views...breathtaking.
Our first hostel in Napoli, which was an old monastery. Don't worry, this was just the facade. The interior was a little more, ahem, well kept.
The Napoli harbour with Mt. Vesuvio in the distance.
A typical Neapolitan street.
A breath of fresh air on the Amalfi coast near Positano.
Climbing the village hills in Atrani.
Getting my feet wet in Maori.
Somewhere in the mountains above Ravello.
Back to the crowded streets of Napoli.
The oldest castle in the harbour with Mikkel on guard.
On top of Napoli, at St. Elmo's Castle.

Canal Evening
I had the sweetest evening...
I met a Canadian friend down at the canal to practice Danish tonight, when a dingy full of young boys with ukuleles docked, and began singing Beirut songs while the sun was setting and the boats were rocking and the seagulls were crying. It was one of those moments when you just know that someone must be up there conducting the minute events of this grand world just to make you happy.

Easter
Today we celebrated Easter at Mikkel's mom's house outside of Copenhagen. The Danes, being a Christian society, take this holiday seriously, and decorate their houses with eggs and little plastic hens. We even had an egg hunt in the garden, but instead of chocolate eggs, you hunt for the one with your name on it and then you get to go in the house and boil it for lunch.
My dad would hate to be here for Easter.

I Baked Bread Today
I am in the middle of a very exciting time of discovery at My New Roots, because April is going to be "You can do it month: making stuff you thought you had to buy". So cool. It all began when I made my own flour, and subsequently, this loaf of bread above. Check out the blog in a day or two to find out how you too, can become a flour miller and a baker all in the same morning.
